Members of Other Faiths

Members of Other Faiths

Occasionally Christians who are not members of the Catholic Church will attend St. Bernard Church and join our family by participating in our parish organizations and programs.  Often, members of other faiths are spouses of our parishioners or interested individuals who live in our area.  Commonly, they will maintain an identity and at least partial commitment to their original denomination.

Members of other faiths provide an excellent opportunity for our parish to broaden our sense of Church, to engage in real ecumenism, and to practice the Christian ministry of hospitality.

Current guidelines for worship in the Catholic Church generally limit the practice of intercommunion.  However, we want Christians of other denominations who have chosen to worship with us, to know that they are welcome, and to speak with any member of our clergy about how they might become more involved in the faith life of our parish.
