Members of Other Faiths

Members of Other Faiths

We welcome Christians who are not members of the Catholic Church at Mass at one of our Churches or from time to time by participating in our Blessed Sacrament Parish organizations and programs.  Often, members of other faiths are spouses of our parishioners or interested individuals who live in our area.  Commonly, they will maintain an identity and some commitment to their original denomination.

Members of other faiths provide an excellent opportunity for our parish to broaden our sense of Church, to engage in real ecumenism, and to practice the Christian ministry of hospitality.

Current guidelines for worship in the Catholic Church limit the practice of intercommunion. When a non-Catholic attends Mass, they are invited to come forward at Communion time and cross their arms across their chest to receive a blessing. We want Christians of other denominations who have chosen to worship with us, to know that they are welcome.

When anyone is interested in learning more about becoming Catholic, they are encouraged to speak with any member of our clergy about how they might become more involved in the faith life of our parish.
