Help Our Local Food Pantries

From the Cornerstone Food Cupboard:

Thank you so much for your ongoing support of the Cornerstone Cupboard. As you may have heard, we can no longer permit our clients to enter the Cupboard to shop. Instead, we distribute a bag of basic nonperishable food items and a bag with produce and meat.

Much of our food comes from Foodshare, but a few items that we really hope to continue to provide our clients are not available from Foodshare. Updated—Most Needed Food Items:

Fall—Most Needed Food Items:

  • Cereal
  • Canned soup
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Canned Pasta
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruit
  • Instant soup mix
  • Rice-a-Roni, Pasta Roni, or Knorr rice side dishes
  • Canned baked beans or pork and beans
  • We greatly appreciate all donations, including grocery store gift cards!

Because of the coronavirus, we provide clients at the door with pre-packed bags of nonperishable foods.  We have to consider the weight and size of food items, and so we ask for regular size food items instead of large or family size items or multi-pound items.  And we do not put glass jars in the bags of food.

To donate items to the Cornerstone Food Cupboard, please leave items in the vestibule at St. Bernard Church. Someone from the Food Cupboard will pick items up weekly.

From the Town of Tolland on behalf of the Tolland Food Pantry:

Tolland Human Services Department is partnering with Tolland Emergency Management to hold a Food Drive. These items will be distributed to Tolland residents in need.

We are collecting non-perishable items -Please check expiration dates and do not bring any items that require refrigeration. A list of requested items can be found on the Town of Tolland website (https://www.tolland.org/human-services/pages/food-pantry)

To donate items to the Tolland Food Pantry, items can be dropped off at the Tolland Fire Training Center - Monday-Friday 8am-12pm. Please leave donations in the black trailer in front of the Fire Training Center at 191 Merrow Road, Tolland.
