Dear Parish Family,
I remember clearly while I was still teaching, that this time of year was a bit tortuous. The kids could smell summer vacation approaching and it took every ounce of energy and patience I had to keep them focused. I never knew who was more grateful for the arrival of Summer, them – or me!
Parish life can be similar. There are many spring activities, meetings, missions, Confirmations, first Communions, weddings, ordinations and such that keep our parish hopping. When Summer arrives, we take a deep breath and thank God for the vibrant parish that is ours. As pastor, I remind people to slow it down over the next couple of months and enjoy the summer with their families.
As two parishes with three worship sites, we need to remind ourselves that we are one family. It’s important to come together and cement relationships and mission. With that in mind, we will be having a get together and workshop for:
- all lectors on June 10th at 6:30 pm at St. Maurice Church in Bolton
- all communion ministers on July 15th at 6:30 pm at St. Matthew Church in Tolland
- our music ministry at St. Bernard Church in Rockville—date still to be determined by our three music directors
