2021 Year in Review

As a parish family, we worked together in a difficult year to give glory to God.
Please take a minute and allow this video record of our year to touch your heart.

As a Catholic family, we are called by Christ to prayerfully create and nourish a vibrant community centered on the Eucharist and dedicated to service, spirituality, and evangelization. Thank you for being a part of our parish family.

Blessed Sacrament Community Kitchen Ministry

Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
rescue the weak and the needy.

Psalm 82:3

The Blessed Sacrament Community Kitchen Ministry assists Cornerstone Community Kitchen in serving meals to those in need of food, kindness and shelter.  Our volunteers serve on teams of four to six people.  Teams work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday evenings.  We set up the beverages, deserts, salads, rolls, etc., serve the meal, and clean up.  Clean up includes wiping down the tables, sweeping and mopping the floors.  Often members work the industrial dishwasher to assist in washing the pots and trays.  Teams work once a month.  Hours are 4:45PM – 6:00PM.

Cornerstone Community Kitchen is located at 15 Prospect St., Rockville, just around the corner from St. Bernard Church. Click here to receive the Cornerstone Newsletter.

We who work in the kitchen are enriched by the people we serve.  We are called to see the face of Jesus in those we encounter.  It is a true blessing for us to take time from our busy, scheduled lives and give this brief bit of assistance to those who need it most.  Plus, it is fun!

To live charitably means not to look out for our own interests,
but carrying the burdens of the weakest and the poorest among us.

Pope Francis

Christ has no body now on earth but yours;
No hands but yours; no feet but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which He sees compassion upon the world.
Yours are the feet with which He goes about doing good.
Yours are the hands with which He blesses all the world.

St. Teresa of Avila
