Votive Candle Offering Stand at St. Matthew

A new votive candle stand, donated by parishioners to support Haiti, has been installed at St. Matthew Church under the Holy Family near the tabernacle.

The use of votive candles express prayer, reverence, and a desire to remain present to God. They are often lit before statues or sacred images of saints or Jesus, and the light of the candle is meant to represent a prayer offered in faith that enters the light of God.

All offerings for the votive candles at St. Matthew will be used to support our twinned parish, St. Pierre in Ganthier, Haiti. At this time, however, no funds will be sent to Haiti until the violence there has ended.
